Demand Responsive Transport and Edge of City Business/Industrial Parks

Hello

I recall from a old copy of Focus a piece on a DRT service to a business/industrial park that was very sucessful.  I have not been able to find the old article and would appreciate it if anyone has experience of this issue or any information on similar projects - successful or otherwise - could post some information here.

Thanks

I Don't know the relevant issue, but a couple of years ago Arriva North West and Wales ( Chester) / Flintshire County was featured with an operation around Connah's Quay.

The service used the ( then) ubiquitous Optare Alero, dedicated staff from Chester depot were supplied by Arriva. The service was a success and satisfied a need, I believe it encouraged new custom ( although I was not involved).

The launch of the service was publicised in "Arriva Now !" the in house magazine.

Additionally, had you ever heard of Godfrey Abbott/ GMT dial- ride based in Sale, Greater Manchester? about 1975 /6 This was a pioneering service using Bedford CF/ Williams Red Rose 17 seaters, Johnson fare box and Storno radio dispatching. it was mainly off peak, and aimed at residential traffic but was a pilot for various proposal

Hope this is of help?

Andrew,

I have found an article in the June 2006 issue of Focus which covers DRT, does this sound about the right sort of time?  If you would like a pdf or hard copy of this article please let me know and I shall arrange for a copy to be sent to you.

Thanks.

Alex
