Interest in CPD

This is the first time I have logged in to eDiscussion and I note with great disappoinment but no real surprise that there have been zero posts on this site. Surely evidence that CILT is failing to engage the membership in this vital area. David MacLeod

RE: Interest in CPD

David

We are currently in the final testing stages of an exciting new online system which will be launched early in 2008.  Available through the members’ area of the web site, CPD Online will be accessible 24 hours a day providing a straightforward method of recording current skills, competencies and future objectives and activities which create an individual CPD plan.  Users will be able to select from a variety of activities including training courses and events and insert them into their personal online diary.A statement of currency can be produced at any time which details an individual’s CPD plan, activities completed and outstanding.  The e-portfolio area of the system allows for the upload of certificates and evidence of achievement.

We will also be able to manage employees’ CPD on behalf of employers to ensure compliance training needs are met in accordance with the new Driver CPC, EU Directive 2003/59 for drivers of large goods (LGV) and passenger carrying vehicles (PCV).  Expiry dates of licences and compulsory qualifications are held within the system, enabling the planning and delivery of training to be scheduled to individual and company requirements.

Once this invaluable service has been launched I am sure we will see an increase in the members posting on this section of the board.

We value all input and try to encourage all members to post their view here.

I hope this has answered your question and hope to see you posting here regularly! Smile

Thanks.

Alex

RE: Interest in CPD

Hello David,

Think of yourself as an adventurer boldly going and all that.

I am very interested in CPD and Mentoring to develop a meaningful career.

I have had first hand experience of the lip service given to company schemes such as this.

My employers PDR (performance development Review) is just a vehicle to set additional tasks for a person and does not address training and direction.

I need focus on my specialism and how to develop, indeed where to develop a career to.
